This Coming up Taller Awards program is a project of the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. The program offers 15 annual awards of $10,000 each to exemplary arts and humanities out-of-school time programs around the country; museums and libraries are encouraged to apply.

The YouthARTS Development Project brought together Federal agencies, national art organizations, and a consortium of local arts agencies to develop and assess arts-based prevention programs for at-risk youth.

The Winter 2008 issue of Threshold: Exploring the Future of Education features articles on the informal learning opportunities at local museums and libraries. The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and Cable in the Classroom (CIC), the cable industry's education foundation, partnered on the issue to underscore the organizations's long-standing commitment to education and literacy.
